PANJIM: The Lokacho Aadhar on Monday strongly criticised the State government’s decision to pass the amendments to the Goa Legislative Diploma No. 2070 (Amendment Bill), 2023, and stood in solidarity with the components opposing it.
Lokacho Aadhar president Trajano D’Mello demanded Revenue Minister Babush Monserrate to place the amendments before the general Assembly of all the Comunidades under Article 652 and not to send it to the Governor for his assent.
Trajano said that such draconian amendments were not thought of even by the Salazar regime. The amendments to the Code of Comunidades are draconian as they would now allow the government to take control and replace democratically elected managing committees and replace them with their officers or the ‘Yes Man’ by amending Article 70.
Bringing to the fore the government’s hidden agenda, Trajano said that the two amendments moved by Sanvordem MLA Ganesh Gaonkar is confusing as the word ‘components’ would include shareholders as well.
