Lokayukta begins working, finally

PANJIM: The Lokayukta began functioning from Wednesday from its temporary office at the State Guest House, here. 

The complaints as defined under Section 2(e) and the grievances as defined under section 2(i) of the Goa Lokayukta Act, 2011, will be received from April 5 onwards, between 10 am to 1.15 pm from Monday to Friday.

The Lokayukta will also receive the property statements submitted by the public functionaries under Section 21 of the Goa Lokayukta Act, 2011.

Goa has established the Institution of Lokayukta under the Goa Lokayukta Act, 2011 (Act No.3 of 2011) with Justice B Sudershan Reddy, former Judge of the Supreme Court, as the Lokayukta, who was appointed on March 8. He took the oath of office on March 16.
