The Lokayukta has also asked the Herald correspondent to remain present on July 18 to record the statement.
Transport Director Nikhil Desai has already initiated an inquiry in the matter and directed Assistant Director of Transport of Tiswadi to conduct an inquiry and submit the report. Desai has also asked that any malpractices found in the office be stopped.
Herald on July 6 had reported on the malpractices after three days of keeping  a watch on the activities at the Panjim RTO office where it went with a genuine case of transfer of car papers to find how touts and RTO staff run a parallel and very efficient service system.
It was found that if you pay three times the official rates, your work is guaranteed and done the same day even if some of the necessary documents are missing. The normal way involves standing in long queues with no surety of getting work done.
