PANJIM: Goa Lokayukta on Tuesday asked for a status report on corruption charges against former Deputy Inspector General Vimal Anand Gupta.
An officer from the Lokayukta said an inquiry will commence in the alleged bribery matter in which the IPS officer is allegedly linked. He said that the Lokayukata has sought a status report from the Police Department.
The government had relieved Gupta in December, following allegations of corruption against him after receiving an order from the Union Home Ministry.
A woman police sub-inspector and a constable were suspended after they allegedly offered a bribe to Gupta to close an inquiry into complaints against the woman PSI. The constable and PSI are facing a departmental inquiry in a case. Gupta has denied demanding or receiving a bribe.
