PANJIM: The Goa Lokayukta has directed the Chief Secretary and Superintendent of Police of the Anti Corruption Branch (ACB) to file a status report on August 9 into the investigation against Power Minister Pandurang Madkaikar and his wife Janita Madkaikar’s alleged disproportionate assets. The Lokayukta directions came after Advocate Aires Rodrigues filed a complaint with the Lokayukta over the inaction of the ACB.
Rodrigues in his complaint had demanded that ACB register an FIR and speedily investigate the approximately Rs 200 crore worth bungalow at Old Goa belonging to the couple. He further drew the attention of the ACB that in his Income Tax returns for the financial year 2015-16 Pandurang had shown his income for the year as Rs 1,44,389 and that of his wife Janita, Rs 24,389.
