PANJIM: The Goa Lokayukta has prepared a detailed report of defaulting MLAs who have not declared their assets and liabilities before the institution and this will be submitted to the Governor.
Sources at the Lokayukta said that almost 10 current and past MLAs have not submitted their details of assets and liabilities before the Lokayukta.
The Lokayukta, last month had asked, for the final time, that all elected members of the Legislative Assembly submit details of their assets and liabilities.
After submitting the report to the Governor, the institute will make the names of such persons public through newspapers and file a report with the Governor under powers conferred in the Act.
The action is based on the Goa Lokayukta Act, and failure to do so attracts action by the anti-corruption ombudsman. As per rule 13 of the Goa Lokayukta Rules, 2012, in terms of the provisions of sub-section (1) of Section 21 of the Goa Lokayukta Act, 2011, assets and liabilities should be filed in the prescribed format in Form III by public functionaries to the Institution of Goa Lokayukta.
