CANACONA: The management, staff and students of Shree Mallikarjun Vidyalaya High school felicitated three persons for their dedicated service to the society on the occasion of Lokmanya Tilak Day celebration. Those felicitated included Ramesh B Komarpant (ex-SBI officer and writer-cum-tiatrist), Freddy Rebello (Journalist, social worker and environmentalist) and Shanu Velip (South Goa ZP member from Canacona taluka) ZP member Shanu Velip highlighted the importance of education. He promised to supply an Inverter to the school and assured to donate his one month’s salary for the upkeep of the school. Ramesh Komarpant narrated his struggle in keeping Konkani, Goan art and culture afloat. Freddy Rebello called upon the students to indulge in reporting as a part-time hobby. Chairman of the Managing Committee Anil K Desai presided over the function. Others present on the occasion were Parent Teachers Association chairman Satish Desai and other executive members of the PTA committee and managing committee.
