Loliem RP 2021 committee deliberates on draft plan

Subash Pagi, a civil engineer by profession guided the committee on the stance that has to taken to safeguard the interest of the local populace. U Prabhudessai, Shambu Prabhudessai, Bushan Prabhu Gaonkar, Ajay Loliencar and Captain Eddie Viegas were some of the prominent persons who delved on the consequences of RP 2021.
It was suggested that underground cabling of electricity wires should be taken in a region that is full of vegetation.
The realignment of the highway from Polem onwards also came in for discussion and the committee was of the opinion that a bus stand should be constructed at Dapot-Maxem, development of a playground and recreation park, upgrading of the government health centre at Dapot and for cutting of hillocks for schools that are located in a hilly terrain so that they can expand the future needs of the pupils.
The members also felt that streams that are vast over here are clogged and that they should be de-silted and bandharas should be constructed at strategic locations to recharge ground water table.
One of the members divulged that the government intends to acquire 60 meters along the highway for the four-lane project and it was mooted that the areas along the highway should be inscribed as settlement zone.
The members present including the sarpanch and panchas, who remained as mute spectators, were called by the Panchayat secretary to attend the next meeting with their suggestions, if any, on January 17 at 3 pm.
