Long-awaited repairs begin on crumbling Cuncolim Bus Stand roof

CUNCOLIM: In a classic case of ‘better late than never’, the Kadamba Transport Corporation (KTC) has initiated repairs on the dilapidated roof of the Cuncolim bus stand, after years of demand. The roof’s poor condition has long been a concern for those using the facility.

Commuters and shopkeepers had been requesting roof repairs for approximately five years, but the authorities had been slow to take action. In their frustration, shopkeepers even erected a makeshift roof using plastic sheets to protect their goods from monsoon rains.

Shopkeepers, unhappy with the lack of response, took KTC Chairman Ulhas Tuenkar to the bus stand to witness the roof’s deplorable state before the monsoon season. Local MLA and Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao, had also urged for the swift repair of the specially-designed bus stand.

After pressure from the MLA, CMC, and shopkeepers, repair work on the roof finally began. this past weekend.
