Long-pending road repair brings relief to Vagulem locals in Curtorim

MARGAO: The residents of Vagulem in Maina-Curtorim can finally breathe a sigh of relief as the long-standing demand for road repairs has been fulfilled, bringing joy to hundreds of residents.

The efforts of local leader Anthony Barbosa has been recognized and appreciated by the community.

In April, residents of Vagulem took to the streets in protest, highlighting the lack of proper roads in the area for nearly 15 years. They accused local MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco of making empty promises. However, following the commencement of road repair works, the atmosphere has changed in the village. Barbosa emphasized that the repaired roads will provide significant relief to the residents who have endured hardships due to the deplorable condition of the roads for over a decade.

Mahadev Naik, a local resident, shared his joy at witnessing the ongoing road repairs. “We were apprehensive that we would have to endure yet another monsoon commuting on these slushy, non-existent roads. It is a huge relief that the roads are being hot-mixed just in time,” he said.
