MARGAO: Claiming that the Ana Fonte Garden, an iconic touristic place and recreational centre has remained neglected since 2012, Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat on Thursday urged the government to prepare an immediate action plan to refurbish the garden.
On Wednesday LoP along with other concerned officials visited the Ana Fonte Garden.
Addressing the media persons, he said, “Ana Fonte Garden is one of the dream projects of Margao which became reality with the strong support of the then Chief Minister Pratapsingh Rane, who stalled the attempts to construct a multi-storeyed building.”
“This iconic touristic place and the recreational centre has remained neglected since 2012. I urge the government to take immediate steps to refurbish the same”, he requested.
He said he has asked the Forest Department officials to ensure that the old glory of this garden is restored. Repairs and re-commissioning of musical fountains, cleaning work of the spring water, trimming of grass and trees, repair of stage and changing rooms and overall maintenance of the garden needs to be taken up on priority.
