MARGAO: South Goa District Congress President Joe Dias said if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had listened to former chief minister and present Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat’s suggestions, India would have been COVID free.
Reacting to Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s request to the Army to help them in transportation of oxygen cylinders in the national capital, Joe reminded that Digambar had nearly a year ago suggested setting up a task force comprising experts from civil society and Army to handle and manage COVID crisis.
He said the judiciary intervenes only when the administration fails and said that was the reason why the courts had to intervene as both the BJP and AAP failed in protecting the fundamental right to life to the citizens of India.
He lamented that both parties were busy in publicity campaigns rather than saving the lives of the people.
He also questioned the Goa government’s failure to provide vaccines to the people and wondered how private hospitals could get the vaccine, which are being given to people at an exorbitant price. He alleged that both BJP and AAP are pro-capitalist and hence are supporting the private hospitals.
He said it was heartening to see Congress workers down on the ground helping people affected by the pandemic.
