VASCO: Marie Loren Fernandes was elected unopposed as sarpanch of Verna panchayat. Outgoing sarpanch Tony D’Costa stepped down as sarpanch as per their pre-agreement and the rest of the tenure was provided to Loren.
Nicolas Quadros was the presiding officer. All nine panchas were present.
After the election, Loren promised to take up various developmental works that are of utmost importance. The Verna playground was cited as an example. Loren also promised to pay attention to all the wards equally.
Outgoing sarpanch Tony extended his support to the sarpanch and informed the media that they will remain united to take up development works of the villagers.
