CALANGUTE: Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar inaugurated the two-day family entertainment musical beat show organised by Village Panchayat of Calangute at Calangute beach.
Lorna, Goa’s nightingale enthralled the large gathering with her melodious voice, Darryl and Rachel too won the hearts of the large gathering. The young and old local singers and dancers also performed on stage. Matias Mascarenhas, Jovicia Sequeira and Jacqueline Fernandes compered the programme.
Those present included Parish Priest of St Alex Church, Calangute, Fr Cipriano D’Silva, Joseph Sequeira the architect of the programme, Sarpanch of Calangute Pascoala Fernandes, Deputy Sarpanch Subhash Salgaonkar, panchas others.
Speaking on the occasion Parulekar said, “By various entertainment programmes on our beaches especially Calangute beach, we need to bring in the tourists; domestic or international, to boost the tourism sector in Goa. I am happy that Calangute Panchayat has taken the initiative to bring back the golden memories of olden days and we will extend our support and co-operation always even on the development front.”
Joseph Sequeira thanked Parulekar and his department for promptness in granting the required permissions and hoped for similar co-operation and support always.
Earlier, Parulekar felicitated the Fr Cipriano D’Silva on his 36th priestly ordination day by presenting a shawl and a token of appreciation. A cake was also cut on stage to mark the occasion. Pascoala Fernandes welcomed.
