Loutolim demands scrapping of SC, ST, OBC survey list

MARGAO: The Loutolim gram sabha on Sunday resolved  that the survey list of ST/OBC/SC and disabled persons from Loutolim village  prepared by the State Commission for Backward Classes be cancelled, with a request to draw up a fresh list after resurvey  as the list prepared included names of those not belonging to any of the said category.
It was gram sabha member Allan Faleiro  who pointed out to gram sabha that list prepared by authorities concerned includes  names of people not belonging to respective category including his own wife who is doctor and that names of deserving people had not been included in the said list. He further expressed that this would give opportunity to those not belonging to the said category to avail benefits there by debarring the deserving persons. 
Sarpanch Maria Monteiro promised to bring the same to the attention of the authorities concerned and call for a resurvey in respect of same.
Incidentally, the gram sabha witnessed lukewarm response with just around 30 villagers attending the same. Hipolito Costa brought to the notice of sarpanch that some of the villagers in ward Devoti faced water problem as the new pipeline had not been connected. 
Earlier, the Sarpanch placed before the gram sabha various development works to be taken by the panchayat that included broaden roads by acquiring land. She said that MP Francisco Sardinha have been approached to develop the panchayat ground The gram sabha was informed that Rs 10 lakh amount received on Goa  golden jubilee that the same would be used to construct two changing rooms with toilets at the community hall, Monte, Loutolim.
