MARGAO: The Loutolim gram sabha that was attended by only four of the nine panchayat members had villagers expressing grave concern over the reinforced wall for the missing link at Angdi as villagers said it may collapse causing damage to life and property.
Sarpanch Xavier Fernandes informed that following an inspection of the work by the PWD and others “stop work” order was issued and work at the site has been stopped. He also informed that higher officials including the collector and chief minister have been urged to conduct another joint inspection.
The villagers while condemning the lethargic attitude of the authorities to stop illegal sand extraction near Borim bridge expressed fears that the adjacent bandhs may collapse if this activity continues which will also affect the Borim bridge.
To stop people dumping garbage by the road side, it was resolved to install CCTV cameras at the identified black spots and also appoint supervisors who will fine those found dumping garbage besides also filing an FIR against them.
The panchayat was asked to install CCTV cameras at every entry and exit point to the village including the main junctions in Loutolim.
