Loutolim gram sabha vociferously objects to CAA

Demands immediate repealing of the Act; Asks govt to desist from implementing NRC and NPR

MARGAO: Loutolim gram sabha on Sunday vociferously objected to the Citizen Amendment Act (CAA) and demanded its immediate repealing besides also asking the government to desist from implementing the NRC and NPR.

Observing that all three have caused widespread discontent amongst the citizens, the villagers argued that all three are against the spirit of the Constitution of the country that seeks to take everybody together while the CAA, NRC and NPR will divide the country.

Dr Vidya of Green Goa Life Foundation presented the Biodiversity Register with the help of slides and as there were suggestions from the villagers the Biodiversity Register will be kept open at the panchayat office till February 24 to incorporate new suggestions following which it would be finalised.

The gram sabha amended the budget to provide funds for construction of material recovery facility and to provide donations to educational institutes.

The villagers also cautioned the panchayat against issuing any NOC to the contractor who has undertaken the work of the missing link till such time as the PWD submits the inspection reports including the inspection undertaken by the local MLA along with the PWD minister.

The villagers also asked the panchayat to write to the police to implement the high court order and take action against the illegal extraction of sand on the banks of Zuari river in Loutolim village.
