Loutolim objects for bringing village under MPT purview

Gram sabha also objects to the nationalisaton of rivers

MARGAO: The extraordinary gram sabha of Loutolim Village Panchayat on Friday unanimously rejected the Coastal Zone Management  Plan prepared for the village and strongly objected the move to bring the village under the purview of Mormugao Port Trust as per the plan.

The villagers pointed out that in the earlier draft sent to the village, the Port Limit was not at all mentioned and in the present draft that is mentioned which threatens to make their village come under the jurisdiction of the Port.

Sarpanch Tony Vaz pointed out that in the 2011 plan the Port Limit was never shown and demanded to know how suddenly now this limit is shown in the map and further pointed out that the shipyards and jetties are deliberately kept out of the Port jurisdiction.

The gram sabha also objected to the nationalisaton of the rivers and resolved asking the government to denationalise the Goan rivers handed over to the centre and also demanded that Mormugao Port Trust be excluded from Major Ports.
