Love always wins in every religion. No religion ever teaches or propagates hate, but sadly politics and other interests use religion to divide.
At the same time, Sikhs have shown exemplary dedication to community service embodying the “spirit” of ‘seva’ or service. During the COVID pandemic, the contribution of Sikhs from providing help, with oxygen cylinders, setting up langars outside hospitals and ensuring that the dead get a decent cremation or burial was God sent.
Here, the Sikh community elders and leaders realised that devotees to the Bom Jesus Basilica, across faiths, travel long distances and all of them may not be able to pack food.
The community kitchen, therefore, allows devotees to relax, have hot meals and not worry about looking for a place to eat.
It is this spirit of love, togetherness and harmony that needs to learnt. The spirit of service shown by the Sikhs needs to be embodied and followed by all and the community needs to be saluted for showing us the true path.
