MARGAO: At the special meeting held on Monday, Lucia Carvalho was elected as the new Sarpanch and Damodar Chavan was re-elected as Deputy Sarpanch of Village Panchayat Navelim.
Earlier, Paul Pereira was dislodged by passing a no-confidence motion.
It has alleged that the outgoing Sarpanch was not taking other members into confidence in taking up the developmental works in the village. And hence, no-confidence was moved against him by a group of panch members.
Speaking to reporters after getting elected for the post of Sarpanch, Luicia Carvalho said that he along with other panch members will continue to work for the betterment of the village and the incomplete works will be completed.
