PANJIM: In all probability, M V Lucky 7 will undergo permanent repairs in Dubai instead of Jaigad dry dockyard in Ratnagiri. Sources told Herald that M/s Golden Globe Hotels Pvt Ltd (GGHPL) is contemplating to tow the vessel to Dubai from where it had sailed the vessel to Hyderabad and then to Goa to operate as an off-shore casino vessel.
Politician Gopal Kanda-owned company had procured the vessel from M/s AMS Marine LLC, at a whopping Rs 12 crore approx. After it ran aground off Miramar followed by a futile salvaging attempt by Arihant Ship Breakers, GGHPL tasked the same company to carry out the salvage operation.
“Plan to tow the vessel to Jaigad is most likely to be changed. The vessel might now be towed to Dubai. The salvage company has its branch office in Dubai so it would be appropriate to move the vessel to its original location before bringing it back to Goa in a fit condition,” said a source closely associated with the company. There is however no official confirmation from either the casino or salvage firms.
Lucky 7, anchored 500 mtrs away from the Miramar beach in deeper waters, is presently undergoing final phase of underwater welding.
