Lucky escape for four at Calangute

CALANGUTE, JUNE 2
Four persons had a miraculous escape after the vehicle in which they were travelling rammed into the premises of St John The Baptist Chapel at Umtta Vaddo-Calangute on Wednesday morning.
The accident occurred when the four occupants of Maruti 800 car were proceeding from Baga towards Calangute. The car driver lost control over the vehicle and rammed into the front portion of the Chapel damaging the gate and compound wall.
The four occupants, including the driver, escaped injury while the vehicle was partly damaged.
Luckily, nobody was on the road near the Chapel or in front of the Infantaria Bakery, which is otherwise a busy spot.
Admitting their mistake, the four occupants immediately swung into action and carried out repair work of the wall, besides cleaning the debris. They have promised to make good the losses to the Chapel Committee.
