PANJIM: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Luizinho Faleiro on Monday hinted at his support for party National Vice-President Rahul Gandhi’s projection as Prime Ministerial candidate in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections by calling him a ‘new face of India who can resurrect the country’.
In his birthday wishes to Gandhi via social media, Faleiro said, “We are looking at Rahul Gandhi as a new face of India who can resurrect the country…bring back to the path of progress, development and inclusive growth. I wish Gandhi, good luck to take this country to a greater height.”
There is a strong demand from Congress leaders to promote Gandhi as party President, which is likely to happen this year-end. However, Congress has faced humiliating defeats in almost every State that has gone to the polls under Gandhi’s leadership recently.
Faleiro also took a dig at the Narendra Modi-led government stating that for the first time since Independence, the country is heading towards turmoil, an agenda of vengeance, hatred and polarisation.
