VASCO: Former minister Churchill Alemao on Sunday blamed Luizinho Faleiro for the non-allotment of Congress ticket either to his daughter or sitting South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha.
Alemao was speaking on the sidelines of I league match at Tilak Maidan, Vasco.
Commenting on the allegations that BJP paid him to be a dummy candidate, Alemao said: “I urge the Congress party to allot me the South Goa Lok Sabha ticket and I will win the seat by using the money paid to me by the BJP, which is being alleged by the Congress.”
“When the Congress party is talking about empowerment of the women, it has failed to allot the South Goa Lok Sabha ticket to my daughter,” he said.
He also accused GPCC president John Fernandes for the fiasco.
When brought to his notice that it is too short a period for him to campaign for his candidature, Alemao shot back by saying that “Nothing is too late and the people of South Goa are with me and I will get elected.”
Commenting on the candidature of Reginaldo Lourence as the candidate for South Goa Lok Sabha seat, Alemao stated that Lourenco was never in favour of the Kabrastan for the Muslims at Margao and it was he who used to fight for their right.
