PANJIM: All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) chief and West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Bannerjee reappointed her nephew Abhishek Banerjee as the party General Secretary, had three fresh appointments of vice presidents, including Subrata Bakshi, Yashwant Sinha, and new entrant Chandrima Bhattacharya.
Goa’s Luizinho Faleiro remains in the working committee and in the Rajya Sabha after the West Bengal Chief Minister disbanded all committees in an attempt to revamp party functioning.
Rajya Sabha MP Sushmita Dev, who is from Assam, former Meghalaya CM Mukul Sangma, and former Tripura MLA Subal Bhowmik put in charge of the organisation in the North-East. Senior leader Firhad Hakim will be the party coordinator and Aroop Biswas the treasurer; both are ministers in the state government.
Banerjee’s trusted lieutenant and Housing Minister Firhad Hakim has been given the charge of coordination between her and the national working committee.
Speaking to Herald, Luizinho said, “It is an honour to be in the working committee, the highest decision-making arm of the party and I have a very important role in the Rajya Sabha”.
