MARGAO: Former Chief Minister and ex-MP (Rajya Sabha) Luizinho Faleiro will release his third book on Saturday 11 October, 2025 at 4.00 pm at International Centre Goa, Dona-Paula-Goa. The book titled “A Better Goa’ with the subtitle ‘Reviewing the Past, Reimagining the Future’ encapsulates some of his interventions, policies, bills, resolutions brought during his time in active politics both in the legislative Assembly of Goa and in the Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and presents a blueprint for the sustainable development of the state.
The 250-page book will be released by Shri. Prabhakar Kore, Ex-MP (Rajya Sabha) & Chairman, KLE Society, Karnataka on Saturday 11th October, 2025 at 4.00 pm at International Centre Goa, Dona-Paula-Goa.

Like his earlier two books-My Goa’ and “The Battle for Konkani and Statehood of Goa-Faleiro’s newest addition to the intellectual scene in the state dwells entirely on Goa. In keeping with the title ‘A Better Goa’, the book is divided into four main parts-A Greener Goa, An Enlightened Goa, A Futuristic Goa, A Sustainable Goa-besides a preface and a summing up of the contents. Each of the four parts are further divided into detailed chapters.
The themes of the chapters include agriculture, the Western Ghats, climate change, education, employment, biotechnology, information technology, housing, River Mhadei and other relevant issues connected with Goa.
The book outlines Faleiro’s vision for Goa, a vision that comes from years of experience at the centre of Goa’s politics, as well as long and thoughtful conversations with the best minds in India and abroad. What the book presents is an idea, what Goa requires is that these ideas be further discussed and implemented for a sustainable and balanced growth.
Faleiro said, “I am confident that with smart planning, inclusive growth and a deep respect for our heritage and environment, Goa can emerge as a model for sustainable and balanced development in India, as the State that all others will envy and want to emulate.”
A fair bit of research had gone into the books, for Faleiro not only speaks of his initiatives, but in certain chapters goes back into history to provide insights that not many in Goa may be aware of. One such is the contribution of Goans to the compilation of the Hortus Indicus Malabaricus, a 17th century work on the flora of the Western Ghats,
Speaking on the book Faleiro said, “The book is an honest introspection for me as a former public representative and a humble attempt to present to the readers the challenges confronting Goa, whilst enumerating and explaining the steps taken over time in the post liberation period, analysing where it might have gone right or wrong and finally presenting suggestions for ‘A Better Goa’.”
The book is published by the Francico Luis Gomes Memorial Trust and will be available for sale in bookshops as well as online.
