Macasana gram sabha agrees for mobile tower

But to meet the Archbishop to get his nod; Approves surplus budget of Rs 4,85,689

MARGAO: The Macasana gram sabha on Sunday while agreeing to installation of a mobile tower in the village also resolved to meet the Archbishop to get his nod for the same while also approving a surplus budget of Rs 4,85,689.
The gram sabha agreed to have a mobile tower installed in the church property near the Macasana church and as it was pointed out that the church frowns upon mobile towers, it was decided that a delegation of the villagers along with the panchayat members will meet the Archbishop to convince him of the necessity of the tower in the village.
The gram sabha also approved the budget for the year 2019-20 with total receipts estimated at Rs. 48,56,896 and the total expenditure estimated to be Rs. 43,71,207 with major receipts expected as grants from the government.
While Rs 15 lakh each are projected as special grants and general grants, income from taxes and fees is pegged at Rs. 15 lakh while only Rs 2.70 lakh is projected from extra ordinary receipts.
Administration will see the maximum expenditure as nearly Rs 20.9 lakh are expected to be spent on it while Rs 11,65 lakh will be spent on public works and Rs 6.65 lakh on health and sanitation.
