MARGAO: The Macasana gram sabha on Sunday while asking the panchayat to expedite the process of erecting a mobile tower in the village also asked the panchayat to act against the illegal sand extraction in the village by people from other villages.
The villagers alleged out that people from Curtorim and Panchawadi were illegally extracting sand from the river in their village even though extraction of sand from the rivers is banned in Goa and asked the panchayat to write to the Collector, Mining Department, River Navigation Department and police and with a copy of the complaint to the local MLA.
The gram sabha also urged the panchayat to help Roque Carvalho to get the mobile tower erected in his property as soon as possible and asked the panchayat to issue whatever licences or NOC that may be required.
Sympathising with the people of the trouble they face due to lack of mobile coverage, Sarpanch Agnelo Costa said that even he faces the same problem and assured the villagers that all required assistance would be extended to get the tower erected as soon as possible.
