MARGAO: Residents of Madel on Thursday stopped alleged illegal dumping of garbage by MMC in the open space opposite SGPDA grounds.
The residents said that there are trucks and rickshaws dumping garbage in the open space on the road side opposites SGPDA ground.
Earlier, locals stopped a MMC mini tipper truck dumping garbage and later confronted the Councillor Angelis Pereira. However, a defiant MMC Angelis said, “The garbage may have been dumped in the night by unknown persons, but we are dumping mud at this place. It is a land which has filling permissions.”
Milagres Fernandes, a local, said, “The MMC is dumping garbage here and a fear of vector borne diseases is lurking large over Madel area.”
We demand stopping of the activity.”
