PONDA: A Madkai local who was returning home after his duty at the GMC had a near brush with death on Wednesday when a leopard emerged from the woods and gave him a hard chase.
The biker escaped managed to escape by speeding his vehicle while the big cat disappeared in the wilderness after missing on its target by just a few inches.
Locals say that the presence of the big cats especially in the late evenings on the Madkai-Kundaim route has frightened motorists over the last few days.
Villagers of Simepainn-Mardol say that sudden appearance of the leopard scares the daylights of motorists along this route.
It may be recalled that around two years, ago a leopard which prowled Simepainn-Mardol frequently was later found dead near a house. Now the recent appearance of the big cats has worried locals again.
