PANJIM: Power Minister Pandurang Madkaikar, who is undergoing treatment at Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai since June 5, is responding well to the treatment and is now off the ventilator, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said on Saturday.
Madkaikar suffered a brain stroke when he was in Mumbai for medical checkup earlier this month. He was operated and since then was in ICU on a ventilator.
Rane, who visited Madkaikar said the Minister is responding well to the treatment and six months from now, doctors will mobilise him for walking. “Power Minister is recognising everyone now. He communicates with people by writing on a piece of paper. He is out of ICU and ventilator,” Rane told reporters.
Meanwhile, Kokilaben hospital has shown keen interest in getting empanelled under the State government’s Deen Dayal Sawasthy Seva Yojana (DDSSY).
“During my visit, the medical superintendent there expressed willingness to get associated with us under DDSSY. We have welcomed them,” Rane said. “Our team of doctors will soon be visiting the hospital in this regard,” he said.
