Madkaikar’s supporters join Cong for dropping him from Cabinet

PANJIM: Upset with the removal of Pandurang Madkaikar from the Cabinet, several BJP workers from Cumbarjua constituency, represented by the former power minister, joined the Congress on Sunday.
“He was removed as a minister without asking him, which is why we decided to switch over to Congress and support its dynamic leader Vishal Volvoikar. We will work for the Congress to ensure he wins the seat from Cumbarjua,” one of the former BJP workers Prajesh Parab told reporters at Congress head office in the capital on Sunday. As many as 130 Cumbarjua locals, majority of them were earlier with BJP, officially joined the party in the presence of party President Girish Chodankar on Sunday.
The locals also expressed their disappointment over the BJP MLA’s inability to fulfil wishes of the people such as providing government employment to the youth. “He did not do our work although we tirelessly worked for him to win the seat. And now since he is unwell and also removed from the cabinet, it is pointless staying in the BJP,” Parab said.
