NUVEM: The feast of Mae dos Pobres (Mother of the Poor) was celebrated on Sunday at Jesus, Mary and Joseph Church, Nuvem.
Fr Rev Dr Bonafacio Furtado, Judicial Vicar of Archdiocese of Goa was the main celebrant at the feast Mass besides other concelebrants.
In his homily, Fr Furtado stressed on Lord Jesus’ teachings and called upon the faithful to help the poor. He said, “After appointing his disciples, Jesus sent them to go and preach the Gospel to the whole world.”
Fr Furtado also urged the faithful to proclaim the good news to the poor and also to be generous in helping and serving the needy just like Mother Mary did.
He said, “Like Lord Jesus, let us become the lighthouse to the poor and let Mae dos Pobres bless us all.”
Extending his greetings to all, parish priest Fr Victor Rodrigues in a special prayer sought Mother Mary’s love, providence and protection during the pandemic.
After the feast Mass, the statue of Mae Dos Pobres was taken in a procession.
