Mae dos Pobres feast celebrated in Nuvem

NUVEM: The feast of Mae dos Pobres (Mother of the Poor) was celebrated at Jesus, Mary and Joseph Church, Nuvem on Sunday.

Fr Daniel Pereira, resident professor of Patriarchal Seminary of Rachol, was the main celebrant for the feast mass besides other concelebrants.

In his homily Fr Daniel Pereira stressed on Mother Mary, Lord Jesus’ teachings and the Rosary.

Fr Daniel said “Mother Mary was the person of faith and a true disciple of Jesus, she lived the godly experience in her life, by rendering true worship to the Creator, by serving one another, and obeyed the will of God throughout her life.”

Fr Daniel requested the faithful to recite Rosary together in the family.

Earlier Parish Priest Fr Víctor Rodrigues in his message said, “The themes for the Novena were selected based on the Pastoral letter “Stay with us” by Most Rev. Archbishop, Filipe Neri Ferrao, the Archbishop of Archdiocese of Goa and Daman. The special theme for the feast is “Having had God experience, like Mary to be courageous witnesses (Lord) stay with us. Each person has varied experiences of Jesus Christ. A person who experiences the presence of Jesus in his life cannot remain the same in his outlook. His words, actions and life change. He becomes a courageous witness to Christ.”

Fr Victor said that this year, especially during the pandemic of Corona virus, ‘we are called to reach out courageously to others in need.’

“Let us make efforts to be with the ones who have had sorrowful moments during this pandemic. May the feast of Mae dos Pobres this year and through the intercession of the Mother of the Poor, may all of us become courageous witnesses in our families, neighbourhood, work place and our society at large,” he added.

On behalf of the assistant parish priests and the parishioners Fr Victor wished everyone a happy feast of Mae dos Pobres.
