MARGAO: Taking serious note of the maggot-infested rice found and distributed from a few fair-price shops located in Davorlim, the village panchayat Davorlim-Dicarpale on Thursday expressed shock and demanded an inquiry into the matter at the earliest.
Sarpanch Herculano Niasso, along with panch members Menino Colaso and Myra Raikar on Thursday visited fair price shops which had maggot-infested rice with them (found closed) and even the houses of ration card holders.
Panchayat informed OHeraldO that they have received several complaints from the people that maggot-infested rice has been distributed to them at the fair price shop number 90 and 93.
