Magisterial report submitted in Colva police station attack

MARGAO: Additional District Magistrate, South Goa Sandhya Kamat has capped the inquiry into the attack on the Colva Police Station on the day of the alleged kidnapping of minor girl from Benaulim by tourists from Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

MARGAO:  Additional District Magistrate, South Goa Sandhya Kamat has capped the inquiry into the attack on the Colva Police Station on the day of the alleged kidnapping of minor girl from Benaulim by tourists from Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
Sources in the District Collectorate, South said that Ms Kamat has submitted the inquiry report to the government on July 9. The inquiry officer is reported to have recorded the statements over around 30 persons connected with the case, including the SDM, Surendra Naik, Salcete Mamlatdar Triveni Velip, police officials, besides some eyewitnesses and those allegedly involved in the incident.
Sources in the know said Ms Kamat is believed to have made a host of recommendations to the government in connection with the police station attack incident.
The government had instituted the magisterial inquiry after a 1000-odd mob attacked the Colva Police Station after a minor girl from Benaulim was allegedly kidnapped by the tourists from Madhya Pradesh. The Colva police had burst tear gas shells and had fired in the air to disperse the mob, which was forcing their way into the police station to lay their hands of the eight tourists arrested by the police.
The Colva police have already registered cases against 15 known persons and 1000 others in connection with the police station attack case. The police are believed to be waiting for further action in the case based on the inquiry report submitted by the Additional District Magistrate.
