PANJIM: For the first time in the history of India, a Chief Minister has spent his first night outside the State. After a day of dramatic developments, Eknath Shinde who was sworn in as Chief Minister of Maharashtra Thursday evening returned to Goa around midnight and spent the night with his MLAs in a starred hotel at Dona Pula.

He landed in Goa from Guwahati as the leader of the rebel MLA pack, left for Goa on Thursday morning to lend support to the BJP government led by Devendra Fadnavis and himself become Dy CM, but returned to Goa as Chief Minister of Maharashtra in less than 24 hours and spent his first night, not at home or the CM’s Mumbai residence “Varsha”, which his predecessor Udhav Thackeray vacated but in a seven-star convention resort in Goa.
