PATRADEVI: Pernem Excise team raided two Maharashtra registered vehicles transporting different brands of alcohol out of the state illegally. The total worth of the liquor and other goods seized including cost of the vehicle is almost Rs 40 lakhs.

According to information obtained, the first raid was conducted at 1.30 am on Wednesday where the team stopped a tempo bearing registration number MH-18-BG-1336 which was carrying plastic scrap. The vehicle was on its way to Madhya Pradesh. The vehicle was stopped and upon checking found that liquor boxes are concealed in the scrap material. Police found 736 boxes containing alcohol of different brands valuing Rs 18 lakhs along with the vehicle.
The second raid was conducted at 9.30am where a tempo bearing MH-07-S-0313 which was travelling from Madkai to Pune carrying plastic chairs was stopped. The alcohol boxes were staked in between the gaps of the chairs with cardboard to hide it. Liquor of different brands was found all amounting to more than Rs 21 lakhs along with the vehicle cost.
