Mahanand acquitted of Amolkar murder

MARGAO: Serial killer Mahanand Naik has been acquitted yet again, this time in the Nirmal Amolkar murder case.

The Nirmal murder case was once disposed of by Judge Desmond D’Costa for which he had to face suspension by High Court in 2010. Mahanand was charged with murdering Nirmal and robbing her gold ornaments in Verna. Five witnesses were examined in Nirmal Amolkar.
The investigating officer Rajendra Prabhudessai was examined twice in the case.
So far, Mahanand has been convicted only in two out of 16 murder cases slapped against him.
