PANJIM: Former expert member of State coastal body Mahesh Patil is appointed as the new chairman of Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB).
After a gap of almost one year, the State government has reconstituted 17-member Board under chairmanship of Patil for a period of three years.
The tenure of the incumbent chairman Ganesh Shet Gaonkar had ended on December 15, 2020 and since then the Board was granted four extension.
The fourth extension was supposed to end on March 15, this year.
Director Environment Dashrath Redkar has issued an order reconstituting the Board.
Director Fisheries Dr Shamila Monteiro is appointed as the under secretary of the Board.
Patil, was also the member of State Expert Appraisal Committee. He was former head of Sustainability Sesa Goa Ltd.
The other members of the Board include director industries, FDA and Health services and Chief Inspector Factories and Boilers.
The panch member of Calangute, Velguem, a councilor from CCP, Mapusa and Curchorem council , president of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), President of Goa Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GCCI), President of Travel & Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG), managing director of Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (GSIDC) and Goa Waste management corporation are the other members.
