Mahila Cong attacks PM, CM for atrocities on women

PANJIM: On the eve of Women’s Day, All India Mahila Congress’ general secretary and in-charge for Goa Mahila Congress, Apsara Reddy launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar for “atrocities committed against women during their governance.”
Addressing the media at the Congress House in Panjim, Reddy attacked the prime minister for spending “miniscule” amount girls under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme.
“Beti Bachao Beti Padhao is the biggest ad slogan for Narendra Modi, but on ground the scheme is failure. Only 5 paise per child is allocated under the scheme but 56 per cent of the funds under the scheme is used for publicising Narendra Modi,” she claimed.
On the State government she said, “(A large number of) crimes (are being committed) against women in Goa, including gang rapes. Manohar Parrikar is of course suffering (from illness of cancer) and we do understand the trauma (he is undergoing), but the people of Goa need a strong and active Chief Minister who can deliver (governance) each day for the Goans. We have a chief minister who is dysfunctional, because of (his) ill health. Our prayers and sympathies are with Manohar Parrikar but Goa wants him, get well soon Parrikarji but please go home.”
She further informed that a team of Mahila Congress visited the Goa Medical College and Hospital on Thursday and were shocked to see men use the toilet facilities in the women’s ward. “I think it’s a great insult to women,” she opined.
On the medical service provided to the women, she said, “I saw at least 40 women standing in a queue and some of whom were in the queue since 8 in the morning and until 12.30 in the afternoon; but not a single doctor attended to them.”
