PANJIM: Goa Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee (GPMC) on Saturday informed they are planning to file a defamation case against Union Minister Smriti Irani and Goa BJP Mahila Morcha for their derogatory remarks on the Congress women.
Addressing the media, GPMC President Pratima Coutinho said, “We had asked for an apology from the union minister for her derogatory comments that she made on an English news channel against Congress women stating that they bow down to sexual favour to get a ticket for election. This is an insult to all the women not only in Goa but across India.”
“After the statement, we demanded an apology from her but the BJP mahila also came out with a statement that Pratima Coutinho has come out with false allegations that Irani had indeed made such a statement to a news channel,” she said.
She further said that Congress is planning to file a defamation case against the minister and the Goa BJP Mahila wing for their derogatory remarks against women.
“We demand an apology and we will very soon be filing a defamation case on her,” she added.
