PANJIM: The Goa Pradesh Mahila Congress (GPMC) on Friday attacked the BJP government over inflation and alleged that the Modi government is looting the public by increasing prices and taxes.
GPMC president Beena Naik said that before coming to power in 2014, the BJP had raised the issues of price rise of essential commodities which were much more affordable when Congress was in power.
“Inflation not only affects Congress workers, but it affects everyone. The 140-crore population in the country is made to suffer. Now the Prime Minister doesn’t speak about inflation, but is busy in looting the public,” she charged.
Naik said that before coming to power, Modi was targeting Congress over price rise. “There is no need to tell how prices have doubled or have increased thrice,” Naik said.
“When BJP government boasts of a decrease in wholesale price index, then why do consumers have to pay more price for essential goods?” she questioned.
The Modi government is also looting people through fuel and LPG prices. How people will live? she asked, adding that the government has failed to provide solace to the public over inflation.
“Tomatoes prices have skyrocketed and it is sad that the government has failed to control rising prices,” Naik said.
