VASCO: The Vasco police on Tuesday arrested a domestic help on the charge of stealing Rs 8.90 lakh from the house of a senior citizen at Alto Dabolim. The matter came to light after the owner of the house Hamilton Furtado filed a complaint with the police that gold jewellery worth Rs 6.90 lakh and Rs two lakh in cash, all amounting to Rs 8.90 lakh, was robbed from his house locker. He also suspected his maid servant.
Furtado in his complaint stated that he had brought the cash on Monday and kept it in his house locker as he needed it for a surgery. But he found the cash missing and when enquired with his wife, she found her jewellery was also missing. The couple along with their 10-year-old granddaughter are residing in the house.
Upon investigation, the Vasco police identified the domestic help as the culprit and apprehended her. The Vasco police are conducting further investigations under the guidance of Vasco PI Kapil Nayak.
