Maina-Curtorim police claim breakthrough in bike thefts

MARGAO, JULY 9
The Maina-Curtorim police has claimed to have busted a gang involved in motorcycle thefts in recent times.
The police has so far arrested three persons and have allegedly recovered three two-wheelers at their instance. Two minor boys, who are involved in the thefts have been sent to Apna Ghar.
Maina Curtorim police said Filton D’Costa, Lector Barretto and Sanjay Chari have been taken into custody. Four more persons allegedly involved in the thefts are still at large and the police have exuded confidence of arresting them in the next few days.
Investigating officer PSI Suraj Samant said the police achieved a breakthrough while investigating into the dumping of motorcycle chassis into a well at Macazana earlier this year.
Upon investigations, the police first laid their hand on one of the accused, who spilled the beans, leading to the arrest of the remaining two persons.
The police have so far recovered two Dio scooters, besides one Pulsor Motorcycle.
The police are conducting further investigations, disclosed PI Sidhant Shirodkar.
