RAIA: Maina SC, Curtorim triumphed over CAC, Cansaulim with a 4-2 victory in the 33rd Super Soccer tournament, organised by United Boys of Dando, Colva, played at the St John The Baptist ground, in Benaulim.
Joywin Carneiro was the early star for Maina SC, netting two goals in quick succession, in the 17th and 23rd minute, setting the stage for what appeared to be a one-sided match.
However, Rio Rodrigues pulled one back for CAC Cansaulim with a well-placed shot, bringing the halftime score to 2-1 in favour of Maina SC.
The second half saw CAC Cansaulim ramp up the pressure, with teenager Rishley Soares and his teammates Aron and Rio keeping Maina SC on the defensive.
Milagres Fernandes scored in the 36th minute to increase the score for Maina, but the two goal lead was short-lived. Rio Rodrigues struck again for Maina in the 55th minute, and Milagres sealed the victory with his second goal in the 60th minute, securing the win for Maina.
Rio Rodrigues was presented man-of-the-match award for his outstanding performance from Amilcar Pereira, the former goalkeeper of Benaulim.
In a match played on Tuesday, St Anthony, Assolda defeated Varca SC 4-1.
