VASCO: A major tragedy was averted when a truck laden with LPG cylinders turned turtle in a field at Senaulim near Verna bypass on Wednesday evening.
After receiving information, the fire brigade and Verna Police rushed to the spot and rescued the truck driver and cleaner. Fortunately, the cylinders remained intact.
Verna Police informed that they received a call from PCR that a truck laden with LPG gas cylinders had turned turtle in a field at Senaulim near Verna bypass road. Police, fire brigade rushed to the site and averted a major tragedy.
Police said the truck was proceeding from Kundaim to the godown at Verna. The incident occurred when the driver suddenly noticed a vehicle in his way and applied the brakes, which resulted in the truck skidding off and landing in the field. However, no casualties were reported. The cleaner received a minor injury to his ear.
A private crane was pressed into service to remove the truck and the cylinders were transported into another vehicle. However, there was no traffic congestion.
