MARGAO: Cuncolim Police on Wednesday arrested a Majorda resident for allegedly kidnapping and raping a minor girl from a village in Salcete.
Police did not name the accused stating that the case is under investigation.
Police said the accused was picked up from Majorda and later brought to the Cuncolim Police Station. He will be produced before the Margao court on January 6 for obtaining remand.
According to Cuncolim Police, based on the complaint an offence under Goa Children’s Act and POCSO Act has been registered .
The victim and the accused will be sent to Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim for medical examination.
As per police investigation, the accused developed friendship with the minor, kidnapped her and later sexually abused the victim. The police complaint was lodged and the inquiry was conducted. The accused was interrogated and later arrested.
