Make Goa a preferred investment destination: CM

Information and Technology Minister Rohan Khaunte said investment and industry are something Goa is looking for.

PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday called upon investors to invest in Goa as the required logistics to set up their ventures are available in the state. He appealed to the Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) and Investment Promotion Board (IPB) to assist investors in setting up their ventures and make Goa a preferred investment destination. He also said that Goa has good connectivity by way of road, rail and airways to cater to the needs of the industries. 

Sawant was speaking after inaugurating the Invest Goa 2022 Summit organised by the GCCI in association with the Goa government, FICCI and Invest India.

Sawant said although Goa intends to have an investment in the industrial sector but would prefer eco-friendly industries. He urged investors to partner in Goa’s industrial growth to work together in making the new India Mission successful.

Information and Technology Minister Rohan Khaunte said investment and industry are something Goa is looking for. The government is endeavouring for its industrial growth wherein IT has a pivotal role in making Goa as a knowledge destination and to make mission Swayampurna Goa successful. He said the Startup under IT Policy is a game changer in the industry sector seeking right investment in the IT sector. Apart from Infrastructure for IT, we seek to make Goa a tourism and creative capital in the country, he added.

Former Union Railways & Civil Aviation Minister and keynote speaker Suresh Prabhu said Goa has its own industrial policy which is investor-friendly. “Goa is the best place for investment and conducive for business and a place to relax as well. Goa has potential to become a Startup forum and being a small State is ideal to venture into World Design Centres for the world,” Prabhu said, while adding that the State would earn revenue out of royalty.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister felicitated Nicole Faria, a young entrepreneur from Navelim, and handed over letters of intent to various investors. He also released the document of Goa Industrial and Investment Promotion Policy 2022.
