PORVORIM: Leader of Opposition Pratapsingh Rane took a dig at the Government on whether the sports infrastructure facilities or stadiums which were constructed earlier are being utilised for any sports competitions in any way or are just used for political meetings.
He further demanded the Government to make it mandatory for students to use the facilities on daily basis and expressed dissatisfaction on state’s failure to host the National Games in Goa.
He also informed the House that the Government has failed to develop grounds at Panchayat levels and also demanded the Government to make it compulsory to have grounds for high schools.
Rane informed the House that the Indoor Stadium at Sanquelim has been closed down and requires urgent attention. He also demanded that each taluka should have its own swimming pools.
Also mentioning the Agriculture officers should visit the farms and guide the farmers on various issues and said that he himself owns a farm and till today no agricultural officer has guided him in any manner.
He also informed the House that the Government has failed set up coconut board and promote organic farming in the state.
Also demanding that Goa’s official language Konkani should me made compulsory at various levels Rane said the officers who come to Goa on deputation should be made familiar with the Konkani language.
The leader of the Opposition said the government should find alternate ways of producing power like setting up solar panels.

‘Maintain Lusofonia Games infrastructure’
PORVORIM: The opposition benches demanded that the government maintain sports infrastructure created for the Lusofonia Games while ensuring welfare benefits to individual sportspersons.
“We have spent crores of rupees to create infrastructure for Lusofonia Games but nothing is done on its maintenance. Instead we (government) spend additional amount to create infrastructure again,” MLA Vijai Sardesai told the House suggesting that the government spend money on maintaining the existing sports infrastructure.
Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte, supporting the Fatorda MLA alleged a scam as Goan sub contractors, who were allotted work for the project, were still not paid.
